Hermitage is a borough of Metropolitan Nashville, Tennessee, located in eastern Davidson County.
Though the area is incorporated as part of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County (“Metro Nashville” for short), Hermitage maintains its own identity as a residential and commercial area and is considered a small example of ‘urban sprawl.’
Hermitage is located just 10 miles from Downtown Nashville.
A popular historic point of interest in the area is The Hermitage, home of President Andrew Jackson, the seventh President of the United States. The Hermitage deteriorated into post-Civil War dilapidation and was finally rescued to its current state as a public museum and National Historic Landmark.
Residents of Hermitage also enjoy Long Hunter State Park, situated along the shore of J. Percy Priest Lake. The park consists of four units including Couchville, Baker’s Grove, Bryant Grove and Sellars Farm. Picnicking, swimming, hiking, backpacking, boating, fishing, nature photography and wildlife observation are among the activities available to park visitors.
Nashville Shores is a popular 385-acre family recreation destination located in Hermitage, comprised of a water park, group event sites, festival areas, 323-slip marina and other attractions. The water park includes eight water slides, three pools, Kayak Cove, Parker Sandbox, an Aqua Park, thousands of feet of white, sandy beach.
